Connecticut doesn’t play when it comes to food, and Sushi Palace raised the bar. As the state’s first all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant, it’s a bold concept that delivers.

I recently visited Sushi Palace with my family, ready to test whether “all-you-can-eat” meant quantity over quality. Spoiler: it doesn’t.

First Impressions

From the moment we sat down, the energy was clear—busy, buzzing, and efficient. The menu is deep, not gimmicky. You’re not boxed into basic California rolls and watery miso. This is a real sushi spread with other Japanese food staples.

The Sushi Rolls

Let’s be honest: sushi lives or dies by freshness. Sushi Palace gets that right. The fish tasted clean and well-prepared, the rice was balanced (not overly packed or sweet), and the rolls were consistently executed.

Standouts included:

  • Specialty rolls with layered flavors that didn’t feel rushed or mass-produced: soft-shell crab roll, Hamden roll, pink lady roll
  • Classic rolls done properly—sometimes simple is the flex: salmon avocado roll, Boston roll
  • Crispy rolls that actually stayed crispy: shrimp tempura roll, chicken tempura roll

You can order multiple rounds, and ofcourse, we did. No side-eye. No slow-down. Just steady service and solid plates.

Beyond Sushi

This is where Sushi Palace really wins families over. Not everyone in our group was strictly there for rolls, and that wasn’t an issue.

The menu also features Japanese staples like:

  • Tempura (light, not greasy)
  • Teriyaki dishes that were flavorful and filling
  • Noodles like udon
  • Chicken katsu

It’s the kind of place where sushi lovers and non-sushi eaters can both leave satisfied.

The Verdict

Sushi Palace proves that all-you-can-eat doesn’t have to mean cutting corners. It’s generous without being sloppy, flavorful without being overdone, and perfect for group dining—especially family meals where everyone wants something different.

Would I go back? Absolutely.

Would I bring first-timers or out-of-town guests? Without hesitation.
